Black and white photos fascinate me because like poetry, they strip away all distractions and cause us to focus on the essentials of shapes, textures, and the play of light on the subject.
Photos caputre forever a single moment and everything that was happening in the world the moment that the photo was taken. When you think of it that way, each photo is an adventure and a time capsule. I imagine that at the moment this photo was taken, you were preparing your lunch or filling the car up with gas. Maybe you were thinking about the cost of tea in China, or how you needed to remind yourself to take out the trash later. I can't remember what I was thinking.
Color is striking. It, in its own way, makes us take note of the details that we often miss. How often have you noticed how drops hover on the edge of a lupin leaf? Or how a small bug has goten caught up in the drops as they fell? To notice, we have to take the time to look.

Tara,
Love the new website. Great photos!
I liked your comparison of the missions in Texas and California too.
Thanks, RBR!
Tara,
Great photos and commentary. In truth, I find the photos AND the commentary worthy of higher praise than just "great" - but you know how it is when one is in a hurry to leave a comment and "get back to work," ne c'est pas?
Thank you Boromax! I am very glad you enjoy the site!
Tara,
You are welcome. When I read your response, I realized something...
I did not identify myself! *gasp*
"boromax" is Ed Boring.
And I truly enjoyed reading the tale of the firewood flap.
:)
